I love being a wedding photographer, especially when I get to see the window into a couple’s personality by the creative touches they put into their wedding details! I also love when my dear friendtographer, Jacki V comes to town because we have been shooting together for 8 years, and its really like a highly sophisticated synchronized swimming routine minus all the water… I totally love shooting a Clos la Chance Wedding too… The views are breathtaking, and Michele is one of the best venue coordinators in the business!

One of my album “babies” goes to its rightful home… I put so much heart and soul into every wedding I photograph, and it doesn’t stop there… This beautiful book went home today… an amazing clouded glass cover with exquisite leather details, and a really beautiful design. Ginny, the lovely bride, took it out of its box, and just looked at the cover and said that would have been enough for her, but continued to glow as she paged through it, commenting on how it totally reflected their style as a couple, and pausing to remember the memories the images invoked. (Gin, you had me smiling from ear to ear with your compliments on my work!) For a peek at the whole Hans Fahden wedding album design, view the slideshow!
First wedding of 2010, and what a day it was! We kept having to remind ourselves that it was January! Beautiful sunny skies with white puffy clouds, temps in the 60’s, and a beautiful wedding venue, The Silverado Country Club! Got to shoot with my dear friend, Jill Doherty, whose work you’ll find featured on the cover of their wedding information brochure (way to go Jill!) Just as I promised in my blog post about film for wedding photography, I brought along my Holga, and took some shots of the bride’s beautiful dress… It’s hard to ration myself to one or two shots per photo shoot…
The stunning bride Io was absolutely sweet and wonderful, and the strong love between her and Tim kept us all warm and fuzzy! Her impeccable taste was evident in every wedding detail, and when Jill pulled the wrapping off her wedding gown we both gasped… WOW – there could have been no more perfect dress for this lovely lady! Thanks to Jill for having me along, and all the best wishes for only happiness in the future for Io and Tim!

I am so excited to be working on Kit & Ginny’s wedding album design for their Love Story Book!! They got married this summer at the beautiful and amazing Hans Fahden Winery in Calistoga, and their wedding was one of the most beautiful and fun ones of the year!! Here are a couple of spreads of the amazing details… Can’t wait to meet with Gin on Friday to go over the preliminary design together! She’s really creative, and I know we’ll make an amazing book!! Also, don’t miss the original blog post of beautiful Hans Fahden Wedding Images.
When I got married a few years back, I looked at many wedding locations in Sonoma! One that came really close to being the wedding venue for us was Viansa, and I always love to shoot weddings there!! Thanks again to Shannon Stellmacher Photography for having me along. Here are some of my favorite images from the day. I particularly love the ceremony location at Viansa… a beautiful Tuscan like courtyard with those big wooden doors as the back drop… amazing. The food is always great, and the wine is delicious – We were in the wine club for many years, and looked forward to our monthly shipment of yumminess!

Meritage Resort Napa Wedding - Candy Stations
Finally getting another few minutes to post some wedding images from an amazing wedding I shot this summer with Shannon Stellmacher Photography. It was such a gorgeous Napa day, and the couple was incredible as well! I love the Meritage Resort - it is simply stunning… warm Tuscan colors, great cave, and beautiful accomodations. Oh, and really amazing food… Here they are!!!
I have been very lucky to have seen many very talented musicians at the weddings I photograph! I always photograph them, and you will occasionally catch me moving and grooving… Ok, maybe not just occasionally…
Live music are just another great way to liven up your wedding ceremony and reception if you have the budget for it… If not, some of the most recent weddings I have photographed coordinated their ceremony music with the help of a skillfully crafted iPod play list!
Had a couple more images to add… Nestldown Weddings are just pure magic… I adore the small gauge railroad, the fantasy garden, the tremendous natural chapel in the redwoods, the London black taxi, and the staff and service is unrivaled! If you are looking for a place to celebrate your wedding and beautiful California natural surroundings, you should check out this amazing property!
Ok, I know I go on and on about how wonderful my clients are, but seriously… I knew I wanted to photograph Krista & Brett’s wedding the first moment I spoke to Krista last November. A perfect day in Los Gatos – Nestldown’s virtues were in great form… they keep the property so beautiful that it takes your breath away. Krista & Brett both greeted me with a resounding happy birthday – so considerate and sweet considering it was THEIR wedding day! Shows you the kind of people they are! Every detail was carefully planned and put into place, and it was just a perfect day! I know I’ll have more images later, but here are some that caught my eye tonight! Enjoy, and much love to you guys! It was seriously an honor to have met you, and captured your day!

Carnelian Room Wedding Details
Can’t believe I am getting a blog post up so quickly, but we were done early, and these favorites totally stood out!! Photographed Serena & Tim’s swanky downtown San Francisco wedding with my friend, Alexis, of AC Image. This lovely couple was a “perfect pair” and beautiful orchids and pears were themed throughout their beautiful day. So amazing to be back at the Carnelian Roomwhich has the best view of my City by the Bay, the magic place I call home, San Francisco!! 52 floors up on a clear day, and I did think I could see forever! Sweeping views of the Transamerica Pyramid, Coit Tower, Alcatraz, Sts. Peter and Paul – I never get tired of seeing these picture-postcards! Congratulations to Serena & Tim, and many happy years together!
Blessings, Kim
The ghost-like figures on the top of the building in the yellow taxi image are often referred to as “the goddesses” or the “Corporate Goddesses,” and are the work of the very interesting sculptor Muriel Castanis. A few weeks ago while celebrating a friend’s birthday in San Francisco, we saw this building from the other side, and wondered what the story was with these ethereal figures… There are several of them that go all around the building, and I am glad I now know more about the story.
When my friend Carrie of Carrie D. Mader Designsdropped me a note through facebook that she was having a trunk show at the amazingly beautiful Salon of internationally known bridal gown designer Amy Kuschel, I couldn’t resist dropping in with my camera bag in tow… on the 5th Floor of a historic San Francisco building bathed in rays of afternoon window light, I had such a great time capturing a few images that showcased some of Amy’s amazing wedding dress designs and Carrie’s incredible bridal jewelry (which like all great marriages is a match made in heaven!) Thanks so much to Amy for letting us borrow her fabulous consultants for a couple of these phenomenal shots! Ladies, this salon is a calm, spacious heavenly spot to shop for your wedding gown, and even have the chance to be fitted by the designer herself. Highly recommend it to anyone you know who is getting married! You will indeed feel like a princess, and these gowns are amazing, not to mention the service from the sweetest and most knowledgeable bridal consultants who graciously modeled for us! I am so flippin’ excited!! As if processing 25 portrait sessions, preparing to lecture photographers on album design at Golden Gate School of Professional Photography, living in the whirlwind of a 2 year old, and running a successful business… My new wedding photography website went live yesterday!!!! It is so fun to see wedding images from so many of my clients, and you should go check it out because some of the images got a whole new treatment that you have never seen… I love everything about weddings and wedding photography – the amazing details, flowers of our wildest dreams, succulent meals, sweetest ever wedding cakes, friends, family, love drama (rarely…!), exquisite wedding dresses, handsome formal wear, cultural traditions, music, dancing, and all around good times!!! I think it shows in this new website showcase… if you know of anyone who is getting married, please send them to look at the site! There are great ideas, wonderful recommended vendors, and hopefully I will get to capture their wedding day memories and preserve them for the rest of their lives!! The website can be viewed at www.millcottagephoto.com!
