Children's Portraits – Last Days of Summer…

Josh made his first trip to the beach today with his mommy and his Oma. We were amazed at how much he loved the water. This beach in Princeton is really just perfect… no rough water, and even a fun Aussie dog to share the day with! We saw shells, a seal, and some great seaweed, and Josh thought the sand was yummy!

Enjoy these last couple of days of summer!

Wedding Photography – Terry & Marc's images!

I am so excited to share the whole coverage of wedding images from Terry & Marc’s wedding with them. It is a really awesome coverage thanks to a really fun couple AND my terrific associate photographer, Joerg Lehmann. We were both having a great time being creative with the elements of the wedding day and with Terry, Marc and their friends! The Hotel Sainte Claire in downtown San Jose was such an amazing backdrop, especially for the romantic portraits of Terry & Marc.

Children's Portraits – Check out these baby blues!

I always love getting to see Connor!! I photographed his parents’ wedding almost 5 years ago, and Michelle and I were pregnant at the same time. The boys were actually due a day apart until Josh decided to make his debut early. This little guy was quite the scene stealer at Steve’s sister Laura’s wedding back in October as well! Connor has such an infectious smile, and those blue eyes are just to die for… So great to see you guys two days in a row! The play date was a lot of fun!

Yay, yet another offspring from one of the couples whose wedding I photographed!!! Andrew & Jennifer were married at Thomas Fogarty Winery in July of 2006. I was there to work with one of my favorite photographers, Jacki Vaughan of Jacki V Photography, and it was a gorgeous day with some of the nicest folks we have ever met. Anyhow… lots of love in the air, and now they have this handsome son who is about to celebrate his first birthday! He gave us quite a work out, but we had so much fun with him!!

Family – Our Greatest Treasure

Filed under Family Portraits, location photography, personal • Written by millcottage @ 2:06 am

We have just returned from a pretty amazing trip… My mother’s family just hosted their 100th family reunion in Hamlin, New York AND my father, who I haven’t seen in almost 15 years organized a smaller, but just as meaningful reunion of his side of the family. It felt so good to hug my daddy and grandpa and for Josh to meet this side of the family. My mom and my brother and his wonderful wife all being with us together was just the greatest! More pictures and the story will follow, but here is one of my boys in a field along the road in the beautiful sweet twilight. I feel complete right now. What is passed is passed, and the present is a gift! Hug your family today! I am sending hugs to mine!!

Baby Portraits – On the Cover!!!!

Filed under Awards, PPGBA, children's portraits • Written by millcottage @ 6:05 am

I am bursting with pride!! My image of Josh entitiled “The World Unknown,” which scored the highest I have ever scored in print competition back in June has just been featured on the cover of The Bulletin, which is the Professional Photographers of the Great Bay Area’s monthly magazine!

I just love this image because it sums up so much of how motherhood makes me feel… like your precious little one is on the edge of brand new experiences and adventures every day. They are so small in such a big world, and yet they are so curious and eager to learn.

Wedding Photography – Terry & Marc

Ok, just one before I go to bed…

Terry & Marc had such a sweet, wonderful and organic wedding! They involved their dearest friends and wonderful families, and each detail was a special gift for them. The beautiful Hotel Sainte Claire was the backdrop for their awesome wedding, and it was such a joy to share it with them! Congratulations to you, and may you never lose your tender playfulness!
PS the music took me back… I am such an 80’s music loving girl, and just couldn’t resist dancing – New Order rules… better go before anyone tries to guess my real age… :^P

Newborn Baby Portraits!

Filed under Environmental, children's portraits, location photography, newborn portraits • Written by millcottage @ 9:18 pm

I had the pleasure of photographing this little newborn guy today, and what a cutie he is!! I love photographing newborns in their homes for so many reasons – it’s easier for new mommies and daddies, it’s comfortable for the little ones, and once in a while you can photograph them with something in their house that they will grow up with. When I visited their home earlier in the week for our consultation, I immediately pictured this image. He’s the shining superstar of the day!
