… to have so many great friends who happen to be photographers? My friend, Jeanne de Polo, grabbed this image of Josh which really illustrates the joy of being a little boy!!! I can just hear his adorable giggle every time I see this! Thanks Jeanne!

Sula…

My dear friend, Anna Myers, hosted the PPGBA Four Nights Workshop tonight at her studio in Alameda. She did a fantastic job, and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world! The topic was portraiture in available light. She brought in 3 models for the groups to photograph including her amazing gorgeous daughter, Sula. I met Sula when I met Anna – about 5 years ago at Golden Gate School. She’s just a joy to photograph, and honestly, can you take a bad photo of someone this beautiful??? Thanks to Anna and Sula (and our other great models too) for a great workshop!

Beautiful Bridgette's Album!!!

Filed under Carmel Mission Wedding, Cottage Industry, Inn at Spanish Bay Wedding, album designs, artwork • Written by millcottage @ 12:17 am

I just finished this album today, and wanted to share a few spreads that feature Cottage Industry Textures and Lightroom Presets. This wedding was in October 2007, and was the first wedding I ever processed completely in Adobe Lightroom. The couple is one of my favorites of all time, and the venues were completely amazing: The Carmel Mission and The Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach. So, going into it, I knew it would be a great album, but adding the textures to the images processed with the presets just kicked it over the top for me. Here are a couple of my favorite spreads… The whole album is here.

Where did June go??

Filed under Cottage Industry, Golden Gate School, education, photographers • Written by millcottage @ 11:07 pm

I can’t believe it’s July already…

June was such a whirlwind! First of all, my class at Golden Gate School of Professional Photography went really well! Thanks to all my students for bringing their positive energy and creative ideas to the class! Eliot Khuner wrote me the nicest compliment:
You created a wonderful atmosphere in the GGS class, and clearly the students responded. You presented information at all levels, so that all students, including me, could get something out of it. You kept story-telling to a minimum, which allowed you to present more material, which I think is part of being a professional teacher.

When I first wanted to become a wedding photographer, I remember sitting on the floor in Rizzoli’s bookstore in Downtown San Francisco, and came across a book about wedding photography with Eliot’s photos in it… Such an honor to receive a compliment like that from him!

The other great thing about GGS was connecting with old friends (big hugs to all my favorite peeps… you know who you are!) and meeting new ones! It was great to see Andre Costantini butterfly whisperer, songwriter and oh-yeah great photographer, and meet Juli Cialone (who hails from Rochester, NY where I am originally from… and is a crazy blast to hang with!!!), and my good friend Paul Gero taught the wedding class… and my new best friends, Jennifer Wilson and Lisa Maksoudian taught the children’s photography class, and photographed Josh too!!! It was great to be at GGS for my fifth year, but really the best feeling to be on the faculty this year! My class was such a success, it has already been added to the roster for next year. I am very proud!

The other thing that happened in June was that Cottage Industry was officially launched! The products for busy photographers received rave reviews and record sales at the tradeshow! The website is a work in progress, so be checking back to see what’s new!!
